This product is made of a nice reasonably thick plastic. The horse has pretty details like a harness, saddle, and waves in the tail and mane. However, the horses are pretty small. I was unable to "paint" the different colored candy coating into the mold. I am not an experience candy maker, but perhaps with small enough tools and experience you could. I made the details work out by using icing with a very fine tip. I was making horses for a carousel cake, and these were the easiest option and worked well, I just would have preferred a bigger horse. The round molds are not too attractive, and I ended up not using those for decorating the cake. One annoying thing that could easily be fixed is that the tray does not sit flat, so you have to prop up one end so the candies are even.
